Gym muscles out member after transgender spat

At Planet Fitness, Yvette Cormier wanted to shape up — and instead, she got shipped out! The customer of a Michigan branch found out the hard way that if she wants to exercise her rights to privacy and free speech, she’ll have to find another gym. In a story that sums up the opposition to the Left’s infamous bathroom ordinances, Yvette came face to face with the consequences of giving gender identity a special place in local laws. Imagine her surprise, Yvette told gym management, when she walked into the women’s locker room and saw “a man” standing there.

“Freaked out,” she complained to the branch, who said the man identifies as a woman and had every right to use the facility of his choice. Stunned, Cormier contacted Planet Fitness’s corporate office — where she heard more of the same. According to the company’s PR director, “Planet Fitness is committed to creating a non-intimidating, welcoming environment for our members. Our gender identity non-discrimination policy states that members and guests may use all facilities based on their sincere self-reported gender identity.”

The gym, she was told, is a “no judgment zone” — but apparently not for everyone. The gym, she was told, is a “no judgment zone” — but apparently not for everyone. When Yvette started warning women about the policy, Planet Fitness revoked her membership. “This is very scary,” she told reporters this week. “I feel like it’s kind of one-sided. I feel like I’m the one who is being punished.” Of course, the irony is that the same Planet Fitness company who said it was a man’s right to disrobe in a ladies’ locker room women kicked a pregnant woman out of the club in South Carolina for showing her belly button! That violates the dress code — but a cross-dressing man doesn’t?

Sound bizarre? Unfortunately, this is the kind of topsy-turvy scenario that will be playing out in public restrooms, showers, and locker rooms across the country if more cities don’t turn back this push to elevate sexual orientation and gender identity above personal privacy and public safety. You don’t have to be a Christian or a conservative to understand the effects the practical effects of these laws. “Tolerance” sounds like a great idea until your little girl is in the restroom with a grown man. By introducing gender politics into an environment like a gym, Planet Fitness is creating a culture ripe for abuse.

Bruce Jenner Transgenders : From Gossip to News

For the last few years, there have been rumors and anonymously sourced tabloid items suggesting that Bruce Jenner, the former Olympic champion and somewhat comically befuddled patriarchal figure on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” was transitioning from male to female.

The various clues — the growing of his hair into ponytail length, the apparent shaving down of his Adam’s apple, the brightly colored polish on his fingernails — were gleefully reported by gossip websites and some of the more fact-challenged tabloid magazines…

Last week, US Weekly put the Jenner news on its cover, with the headline, “Finally, the Truth,” and People magazine is now reaching newsstands with a cover article on Mr. Jenner, headlined, “He Is Finally Happy.” Meanwhile, reports have surfaced that Diane Sawyer of ABC News has lined up an interview with Mr. Jenner for May, shortly before a documentary series about the former athlete’s transformational process is expected to start airing.

The decision to jump into this story was not an easy one, Jess Cagle, the editorial director of People, said in an interview this week.

“With private matters, we generally try to let people make announcements on their own time,” he said. “You try to be respectful and stop short of lying. I didn’t want to be in the business of exposing Bruce’s secret.”

But members of the Kardashian/Jenner families have begun to publicly acknowledge that something is definitely going on — even as they decline to discuss exactly what that is and continue to use the pronoun “he” when talking about Mr. Jenner.

….And Mr. Jenner’s rapidly changing appearance is certainly obvious.

His hair has grown past his shoulders, his nails have been painted various shades of red and pink, and breasts appear to be growing underneath his golf shirts. It is a remarkable transformation for a former Olympic athlete, the 1976 decathlon champion, who in his glory days appeared on a Wheaties box and seemed to be the paragon of male beauty….

A handful of transgender advocates also expressed concern that in a year when the trans movement appears to be gaining steam — with a Golden Globe going to the television show “Transparent” and a Time Magazine cover being bestowed on the transgender actress Laverne Cox — the spectacle surrounding Mr. Jenner could prove to be a setback.

“It would be great to have celebrities who are respected going through gender transitions,” said Dr. Katherine Rachlin, a psychologist and gender specialist in New York. “I don’t know if this falls into that. The whole thing seems pretty tabloid to me.”

Still, Ms. Aurthur, of Buzzfeed, was optimistic.

“We’re in murky waters,” she said. “My biggest hope is that if there’s a show about all this, Jenner’s transition will cease being a freak show told by the tabloids and will instead bring about a larger conversation. Bruce Jenner has become a target and joke along the way, but that’s easily reversible.”

Obama now trying to outlaw single-sex classrooms & sports

The Obama Administration is now trying to outlaw single-sex classrooms, a practice that has been growing as parents and teachers see its good results. The Obama Administration is discouraging that option in conformity with demands by the feminists who believe in the interchangeability of the genders and insist that schools forbid any deviation from their peculiar belief that there is no difference between male and female.

The Minnesota State High School League, which controls policy for all extracurricular activities in all schools, public and private, voted 18 to 1 to outlaw recognition of all sex differences in high-school sports. The new policy, adopted December 4, allows students the choice to play on either boys’ or girls’ teams if they claim transgender status.

Obviously, the school didn’t clear this radical new policy with parents. A group of parents opposed to this agenda ran an ad in the Minneapolis Star Tribune stating “A male wants to shower beside your 14-year-old daughter. Are you okay with that?”

Under this new policy, there can be no recognition of sex differences in high school sports, on the field, or in locker rooms, or bathrooms, or hotel rooms. Minnesotans sent more than 10,000 protest emails to the State High School League, but their protests were overruled.

The National Federation of State High School Associations published language to “guide” organizations that may have to respond to parents’ complaints. This national explanation reads: “It is important for policy-makers to understand that transgender girls (who were assigned a male gender at birth) are not boys. Their consistent and affirmed gender identity as girls is as deep-seated as the gender identity of non-transgender girls.”

This nonsense comes out of a belief that schools and sports should ignore obvious anatomical differences because children supposedly become a boy or a girl only after they are old enough to decide which gender they choose to be. This sets up an authority for the child that conflicts with parental authority and probably emanates from the controversial judicial fiat once enunciated by the Ninth Circuit that parents’ rights stop at the threshold of the school door.

The perpetrators of this nonsense try to convey the impression that they are merely fine-tuning the rules of Title IX, but that is not true. Title IX was written to support equal opportunities for girls in schools and colleges, but allowing boys to play on girls’ sport teams certainly does not promote that goal, nor was it ever intended.

Meanwhile, the Obama Administration has moved to suppress the effort by a few public schools to experiment with single-sex classrooms. The senior counsel of the National Women’s Law Center criticized single-sex classrooms because they supposedly rely on “sex stereotypes” that assume boys and girls respond to different methods of teaching.

The terrible sin that precipitated the lawsuits was that the boys were assigned to read a story about hunting and dogs, while the girls’ classes were assigned a love story. “Stereotyping” has become an epithet like “racist” to silence opposition.

The ACLU filed some ten administrative complaints against stereotyping with the U.S. Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights against schools in Florida, Wisconsin, Idaho and Texas. The ACLU sued schools in Louisiana, Alabama, Kentucky and West Virginia in 2009 and 2012.

The ACLU sent a letter to the Gloucester County (VA) School Board urging it to reject the policy that would limit school rest rooms and locker rooms to “the corresponding biological genders.” On December 9, the Board voted to retain boys’ and girls’ rest rooms and allow transgender students to use “an alternative private facility,” but the ACLU rejected that compromise and says it will sue.

Time Magazine reported scientific studies which show that girls’ and boys’ brains are “hard-wired” differently and support the view that separating the genders will improve learning. These studies suggest that “girls learn better in emotionally supportive, collaborative groups and may not be as good at grasping abstract mathematical concepts, while boys thrive in competitive environments and tend to struggle with reading and art.”

Principal Skyles Calhoun of Woodbridge Middle School in Virginia has been so successful in using different teaching styles for boys and girls that grades and test scores for both have soared. He will now be in violation of the new rules, and that will kill a good thing that has produced wonderful results.

There is nothing compulsory about the single-sex option. Woodbridge School offers parents a choice for their children’s education, and requires them to answer 33 questions so the schools can be sure that the parents really, really want the single-sex classroom and are not worried about stereotypes.

Meanwhile, the feminists have renewed their drive to put the Equal Rights Amendment in the U.S. Constitution. Since the operative word in ERA is “sex” and not “women,” judges would probably rule that ERA would put their transgender sex nonsense into the U.S. Constitution.
