Pro-lifers plan sit-in at Boehner’s office: GOP inaction decried

3/10/2015 – Pro-life activist Jill Stanek is joining with the Christian Defense Coalition later this month to stage a sit-in on Capitol Hill over lack of action on a late-term abortion ban that was supposed to be passed in January.

The sit-in is scheduled for 11.a.m. EST on March 25 outside the office of House Speaker John Boehner.

At issue is the GOP leadership’s handling of the “Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act,” which bans abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy but includes exceptions for victims of rape and incest.

Stanek, a former nurse, rose to national prominence after confronting then-Illinois State Sen. Barack Obama over his opposition to legislation that would require medical personnel to take every measure possible to save the life of a baby born alive after an attempted abortion.

She said personal experience drove her to speak up then, and it drives her now.

“I, as a nurse at a hospital in Chicago, held an abortion survivor for 45 minutes until he died, and he was 21 weeks old,” she said. “An abortion ban such as this would save babies like I held. This is very real to me. I have actually seen and held the babies that the House is just playing around with willy-nilly right now.”

The bill was supposed to be voted on Jan. 22 in conjunction with the anniversary of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision to legalize abortion and while Washington was filled with pro-life activists for the annual March for Life. Stanek said the concept is very simple.

“It is a ban on abortion past 20 weeks,” she explained. “It is known that by 20 weeks, and probably before, children feel pain. When they are aborted at 20 weeks, they are literally drawn and quartered. They’re just ripped apart, limb by limb. So this ban would make it a federal offense [and] ban abortions past 20 weeks.”

But the bill, which sailed through the House with a smaller Republican majority in the previous Congress, never received a vote….

House votes to ban taxpayer-funded abortions

The House voted Thursday (Jan. 22) to cement a ban on taxpayer funding for abortion through Obamacare or in other cases, a turnaround bid to save face after Republican leaders were forced to pull a groundbreaking bill that would prohibit abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

The 242-to-179 vote reopened the fight over Obamacare and whether it subsidizes abortions, despite President Obama’s promises that it would not.

But that debate was overshadowed by GOP disunion that forced leaders late Wednesday to scramble for an alternative to their preferred bill, the 20-week ban.

Some Republicans yanked their support for that bill because it required women to have reported instances of rape or incest to be exempted.

The sudden swap disappointed pro-life marchers who descended on Washington Thursday. But they still cheered the replacement bill, as it would put into law a longstanding ban on federal funding for abortion known as the “Hyde amendment.”

Others were not as generous, saying Republicans had retreated from the principles they vowed to defend….

The GOP majority wanted to pass pro-life legislation to recognize the March for Life, an annual event that coincides he anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision establishing a national right to abortion.

The initial bill, titled the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act,” would have established a national ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy — the time at which the bill declared fetuses are able to feel pain.

The legislation included limited exceptions for pregnancies that were the result of rape or incest or that were necessary to prevent the mother’s life from being endangered. But the rape and incest exceptions only applied to reported cases of those sex crimes.

200,000 Pro-lifers March to Supreme Court, Capitol Hill

Tens of thousands of pro-lifers are in Washington, DC, today, January 22, to stand for life at the 42nd annual March for Life.

The day started with a 5-K run along the Potomac River as others got set to march to the Supreme Court which legalized abortion in 1973.

This year’s March for Life theme is “Every Life is a Gift,” says Jeanne Mancini, who heads the March.

There is a special focus on children who are aborted after the mother receives a prenatal diagnosis of a disability. Those babies are aborted at a “highly disproportionate rate,” says the pro-lifer.

“And we’re trying to do what we can for any woman who would be considering an abortion but especially these who are considered for abortion even more often,” Mancini tells OneNewsNow….

More than 200,000 people are expected to participate in the March.

“Sanctity of Human Life Sunday: Choose Life”

Turn in your Bibles to Deuteronomy 30:19. The title of the message is “Choose Life.” Deuteronomy 30:19 says: “This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”

Introduction: As a nation, we must come to grips with the option and opportunity in Deuteronomy 30:19. God has set before us the option of life and death and the opportunity to choose life. Tragically, as a culture, we have chosen death. Did you know that 3,000 innocent people will be murdered in America tomorrow? These individuals have had no trial, no legal representation, and no opportunity to defend themselves. Yet, they have been executed in a cruel, inhumane way.

In fact, we can predict these horrible deaths with chilling accuracy. One human life will be destroyed every 20 seconds. When added up, that’s around 1 million Americans a year. Over the past 42 years, some 57 million have been murdered without mercy in these United States. Mark down January 22, 1973 as a date that will also live in infamy. For on that date, the United States Supreme Court made it legal# for our nation to murder human beings by what doctors call an abortion.#

Let the weight of that hit you: 57 million lives…gone. Just think of a catastrophic disaster where the entire populations of California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington are wiped out. That is what we are talking about. Abortion is the American Holocaust, and it is a moral outrage that ought to make every Christian in this nation rise up in righteous indignation. So what I want to do this morning is to expose the deceptive arguments of the pro-abortion crowd, and then show you the declared truth of the word of God regarding unborn human life, and finally give you some definite things you can do about this moral madness called abortion, this war on human life.

I. DECEPTIVE ARGUMENTS OF THE PRO-ABORTIONISTS

First of all, let’s talk about the Deceptive Arguments used by the pro-abortion crowd. Let’s be honest, the abortionists, who like to be called pro-choice, have a lot of persuasive-sounding arguments they use to shout down their opponents. Maybe some of you have been deceived by these arguments, but want you to listen closely to some of them, and see if they really are all that sound when we subject them to scrutiny….

The March for Life is Thursday, Jan. 22nd!

On January 22nd, 1973 the Supreme Court handed down abortion-on-demand with their infamous decision on Roe v. Wade.

Every year since then, in what has become known as the “March for Life” pro-lifers gather at our nation’s capitol to memorialize that decision and protest the devastating aftermath.

The very first March had 25,000 activists in attendance.

Since then it has grown exponentially, to a regular participation of hundreds of thousands of activists, with young people coming out in droves.

And there is a mostly untold story of many hundreds of thousands of concerned Americans, who can’t come to Washington each year for the March, because of work, family or other duties.

But they pray in vigils to send off the marchers, they gather at places of worship, they fast and pray as they tend to their daily tasks, schoolchildren at their desks, and much more.

No one but God knows just how many people are part of the March without being there. But it is a vast number….

This coming March for Life (January 22, 2015) will be particularly significant for a couple of reasons.

First, it will be the 42nd anniversary since the Supreme Court legalized abortion-on-demand.

Second, this March will also have the most pro-abortion president in history sitting in the White House.

The first half of his presidency has made his agenda very clear — he has already given the abortion lobby free reign of the White House and our taxpayer dollars.

Barack Obama has made it clear that he will do everything in his power to advance abortion even further.

This year the March for Life will be held on Thursday, January 22nd on the Mall in Washington, D.C.

Best Pro-Life Arguments for Secular Audiences

Abortion is unlike any other issue debated today. Millions of American women have aborted a child, and the pain, loss, and emotional need to justify what was done, both on the part of the mother and on the part of her loved ones, is strong and deep.[1] This means that, in any debate, you may face an invisible thumb on the scale so that even the best logic will fail to persuade.

The best you can do is arm yourself with the facts and deliver them in what you hope will be a winning way for your audience — meaning you will need to make your case, in most instances, not in the language of faith or religion but in the language of the post-modern secularist.

What follows, therefore, are the best arguments from science, the law, and women’s rights to advance the pro-life case against abortion.

Argue from Science.

The “classic” arguments from the other side are collapsing under the weight of science. “No one knows when life begins” and “It’s a blob of tissue” are frankly on the wane, especially in the context of surgical abortion, which is how the vast majority of abortions are done today.[2]

Still, establishing the evidence of the beginnings of human life will ground your argumentation in science, giving you a firm foundation for additional arguments and preempting the charge that you are basing your position on faith or religious belief.

Cite the facts.

Here is a thumbnail sketch of the scientific evidence of the existence of human life before birth. These are irrefutable facts, about which there is no dispute in the scientific community.[3]

At the moment when a human sperm penetrates a human ovum, or egg, generally in the upper portion of the Fallopian Tube, a new entity comes into existence. “Zygote” is the name of the first cell formed at conception, the earliest developmental stage of the human embryo, followed by the “Morula” and “Blastocyst” stages.[4]

Is it human? Is it alive? Is it just a cell or is it an actual organism, a “being?” These are logical questions. You should raise them, and then provide the answers….

Huge Pro-life Event Comes to Nation’s Abortion Capital This Weekend

Just days before hundreds of thousands of people will gather in the nation’s capital for the annual March for Life, pro-lifers on the West Coast will get their chance to celebrate the beauty and dignity of every human life at OneLifeLA, the first-ever large-scale pro-life event in The City of Angels, on Jan. 17.

The event, which is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, will include a walk, entertainment, and a host of renowned speakers who will discuss pro-life topics ranging from abortion and adoption to human trafficking and euthanasia.

Ryan Bomberger, Chief Creative Officer of The Radiance Foundation, Townhall columnist, and keynote speaker of the event, will debut a new video ad, “Never Picture Perfect,” which addresses what happens when those who are considered “imperfect” are discarded.

AFA Supports ‘Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act’‏

Tony Perkins of the American Family Association encourages you to contact your Representative and urge them to support passage of the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” (H.R. 36) sponsored by Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.)and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn). This legislation is essential to stopping late abortion. It would also help stop so-called doctors, like the now imprisoned Dr. Kermit Gosnell, who are willing to allow babies be born alive to more easily kill them if the abortion doesn’t work. Tragically, this problem goes way beyond Gosnell in Philadelphia.

Lila Rose’s undercover video in 2013 showed a doctor in the District of Columbia claiming “Let’s say you went into labor, the membranes ruptured, and you delivered before we got to the termination part of the procedure here, you know? Then we would do things — we would — we would not help it. We wouldn’t intubate.”

Medical experts have testified that unborn children can feel pain as early as 20 weeks after fertilization, which is about 4 and a half months. You can download FRC’s pamphlet “Fetal Pain: Can Unborn Children Feel Pain in the Womb?”explaining more detail about the pain unborn children experience. The fact is that anesthesia is given during prenatal surgery, precisely because scientists have come to realize that, as Dr. Kanwaljeet Anand testified:

“The human fetus possesses the ability to experience pain from 20 weeks gestation, if not earlier and the pain perceived by the fetus is possibly more intense than that perceived by term newborns or children.”

This legislation is an essential step in restoring the sanctity of human life and stopping the painful killing of unborn children at 20 weeks or later.

Kansas church CELEBRATES abortion!

According to recent reports, St. James Episcopal Church in Wichita, Kan., is preparing to mark the 42nd anniversary of legalized abortion with a chili dinner on church grounds later this month.

Tickets range from $20 to $1,000 for the Planned Parenthood-sponsored event, which promises “an evening of stimulating conversation, refreshments and CHILI!”

The event, dubbed Chili for Choice, is one of many anniversary celebrations planned throughout the nation to mark another year of allowing American women to legally kill their unborn children. Concerts and celebrity appearances mark many of these gatherings; however, an ostensibly Christian church willing to openly endorse abortion has attracted significant social media criticism.

Some outlets called on pro-life advocates to call the church in an effort to convince leaders to reconsider its partnership with Planned Parenthood. One such call was posted online.

While a church spokesperson admitted St. James teamed up with the organization, she denied the local affiliate has performed any abortions. Nevertheless, with an event celebrating ‘choice,’ a ubiquitous euphemism for abortion, critics were not shy in expressing their displeasure….
“Maybe they should make that chili really hot so the attendees can get used to the heat,” one reader wrote.

Others criticized the Episcopal Church in general for its increased embrace of social leftism in recent years.

The fatal delusion of Political Salvation

By Robert McCurry – The Wake-Up Herald –

The 2014 mid-term election is over — the Republicans prevailed so what can be expected from the new regime? Will the political party power shift really change things or will it be business as usual?

Patrick J. Buchanan, a seasoned political analyst, says, “Our two-party system is a fraud, a sham, a delusion. On foreign policy, trade, immigration, big government, we have one-party government, one party press; and conservatives are being played for suckers.”

Alabama Governor George Wallace said, “There is not a dime’s worth of difference between the Democratic and Republican parties.” He was right.

Helen Keller once said, “We vote. What does that mean? It means that we choose between two bodies of real, though not avowed, autocrats. We choose between Tweedledum and Tweedledee.” She was right.

In his classic work The Law, first published in June 1850, Frederic Bastiat wrote:

When it is time to vote . . . the voter is not to be asked for any guarantee of his wisdom. His will and capacity to choose wisely are taken for granted. Can the people be mistaken? Are we not living in an age of enlightenment? What! Are the people always to be kept on leashes? Have they not won their rights by great effort and sacrifice? Have they not given ample proof of their intelligence and wisdom? Are they not adults? Are they not capable of judging for themselves? Do they not know what is best for them? Is there a class or a man who would be so bold as to set himself above the people and judge and act for them? No, no, the people are and should be free. They desire to manage their own affairs, and they shall do so.

But when the legislator is finally elected — ah! then indeed does the tone of his speech undergo a radical change. The people are returned to passiveness, inertness, and unconsciousness; the legislator enters into omnipotence. Now it is for him to initiate, to direct, to propel, and to organize. Mankind has only to submit; the hour of despotism has struck. We now observe this fatal idea: The people, who, during the election, were so wise, so moral, and so perfect, now have no tendencies whatever; or if they have any, they are tendencies that lead downward into degradation. ~Frederic Bastiat [1801-1850], French economist, statesman, and author

– Pro-Lifers and a New Republican Congress –

Among America’s many sins that must be dealt with — the most hideous and despicable sin of all — is the murder of 65+ million babies, plus 5,000 babies murdered every day via abortion since January 1973.

Harry Blackmun, a Republican, was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Richard Nixon and confirmed by the Senate on May 12, 1970, by a 94-0 vote. He authored the Court’s Republican majority opinion on Roe v. Wade. Blackmun became a passionate advocate for abortion rights, often delivering speeches and lectures promoting Roe v. Wade and criticizing Roe’s critics.

Sadly, abortion has been a Republican ‘political football’ for many years as indicated by this November 11, 2002, article that is as relevant today as if written this morning.

It is sad to report that pro-life groups are salivating about a new “pro-life” Congress. Poor souls! Their drooling will likely be in vain. I have it from high Republican places that the Party will not really, meaningfully pursue an anti-abortion agenda. There are too many liabilities for Republicans to give anything more than lip service to pro-lifers.

Do not misunderstand me. I am pro-life, and I wish that the Republican Party would make the struggle against child murder central in its effort, but I know they will not. There are too many suburban Republican women with money who would be turned off totally. There are too many Republican men who fear the consequences of live babies complicating their lives for at least eighteen years of child support. They are too many Republican doctors who perform abortions. There are too many Republicans who benefit from abortion, one way or another. There are too many Republicans whose pro-life position is a preference, not a conviction. ~Norman Ravitch, Ph.D., Toogood Reports, Nov 11, 2002

Alas! As Pilate of old attempted to wash his hands of the innocent blood of Jesus two thousand years ago when ‘he washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person [Jesus]: see ye to it” (Matt 27:24), political modernity attempts to wash its hands at the ballot box of the blood of millions of babies murdered by abortion since 1973. But political rhetoric, voting, and a new political regime will not absolve this blood guiltiness. God’s message to America is ‘Repent or perish!’

– The Dominant Christian Political Delusion Today –

The dominant Christian political delusion today is that Republicans represent some kind of cure-all political salvation to be implemented in America. This ability of Christians to lend their faith to unfounded propositions like this one does nothing but convince people that Jesus Christ is a fantasy and that Christians are exceedingly naive.

How can the world be expected to take Biblical claims about Jesus Christ seriously when His followers lend themselves to political fantasies that everyone else on earth knows is false and self-serving?

America’s political history proves that there is no real difference between either of the major political parties when it comes to concern and implementing the will of God in America. The differences are in their rhetoric but not in practice.

Political salvation is a mirage and quicksand.

God’s Word, the Bible — not the Bill of Rights or the U.S. Constitution — is square one, point of beginning to resolve America’s rapid descent into an inevitable demise.

Jesus Christ is Lord! The law of the Lord is perfect! “For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us” (Isa 33:22).
