Islamic State releases 19 Christian captives for ransom

Israel’s Arutz Sheva reported that the 19 Christians who were released by the Islamic State Sunday were freed because a ransom was paid for each of the captives.

The ransom, considered a jizya (tax paid by non-Muslims to Muslims in Islamic territory) by the Islamic State’s religious courts, was likely around $1,700 per person, the director of the Assyrian Network for Human Rights told Arutz Sheva.

BEIRUT (AP) — The Islamic State group released at least 19 Christians on Sunday who were among the more than 220 people the militants took captive in northeastern Syria last week, activists and a local leader said.

The news provided a modicum of relief to a Christian Assyrian community that has been devastated by the abductions, which saw Islamic State fighters haul off entire families from a string of villages along the Khabur River in Hassakeh province. But fears remain over the fate of the hundreds still held captive.

Bashir Saedi, a senior official in the Assyrian Democratic Organization, said the 16 men and three women arrived safely Sunday at the Church of the Virgin Mary in the city of Hassakeh. He said the 19 — all of them from the village of Tal Ghoran — had traveled by bus from the Islamic State-held town of Shaddadeh south of Hassakeh.

ISIS Burns Churches, Takes Christian Hostages, Western Forces No Help

In the early hours of Monday, February 23, Islamic State fighters attacked several Christian villages along the Khabur River in north eastern Syria. As many as 200 Christians—including women and children—were taken hostage. Their families fear that they will either be sold as slaves and/or raped, or simply massacred, as many other Christian hostages of the Islamic State have been—most recently the 21 Coptic martyrs in Libya.

Several churches were also torched or damaged during the jihadi raid, including the church in Tel Hurmiz, one of the oldest churches in Syria, the Mar Bisho church in Tel Shamiran, the church in Qabr Shamiy and the church in Tel Baloua.

And, perhaps worst of all, this raid “brought to light deplorable conduct on the part of other persons,” namely the West. According to Archbishop Hindo:

“I wish to say quite clearly that we have the feeling of being abandoned into the hands of ISIS. Yesterday American bombers flew over the area several times, but without taking action. We have a hundred Assyrian families who have taken refuge in Hassakè, but they have received no assistance either from the Red Crescent or from Syrian government aid workers, perhaps because they are Christians. The UN high commission for Refugees is nowhere to be seen.”

Egypt attacks Islamic State in Libya

Egyptian special forces have allegedly launched a ground attack in Libya’s Islamic State-held Derna capturing dozens of Islamist militants, according to Egyptian and Libyan reports.

Ansa news agency cited unnamed local sources as saying that an Egyptian commando stormed the eastern Libyan town, a stronghold of the Islamic State (ISIS) there, “capturing 55 Daesh [IS] militants”.

The Libyan National Army wrote on its Facebook page that Egyptian forces in coordination with the local army stormed IS camp in Derna, “killing a large number of IS militants and capturing several terrorists including Egyptians, foreigners and Arabs”.

The report could not be independently verified by IBTimes UK.

An Egyptian newspaper, ElWatan News, reported that several jihadists were killed in the operation. But Twitter accounts linked to the jihadists denied any casualties.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that all measures, including international troops on the ground, should be considered to defeat IS in Libya….

EVIDENCE : Sen. McCain in Major Islamic State Conspiracy

Recently revealed conversations between the Pentagon and the Gadhafi regime in 2011 show that then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was serving the Muslim Brotherhood by pushing a false narrative to justify the removal of Muammar Gadhafi, as Shoebat.com has reported. With the help of corroborating evidence, we’re closer to proving that Republican Senator John McCain was likely just as invested in facilitating the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in Libya as Hillary was. Before getting to the evidence that implicates McCain, let’s work backward from the Benghazi attacks.

Any discussion about what happened in Benghazi on the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks usually includes the topic of weapons shipments to Syrian rebels via Turkey. According to a book written by a former Navy SEAL and Green Beret, the man who would eventually become CIA Director oversaw that operation from the White House:

“(Deputy National Security Advisor) John Brennan also ran a highly compartmentalized program out of the White House in regard to weapons transfers, and Stevens would not have been trusted with that type of information. Stevens likely helped consolidate as many weapons as possible after the war to safeguard them, at which point Brennan exported them overseas to start another conflict.”

According to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) report completed last August and then released the Friday before Thanksgiving, the mission in Benghazi didn’t involve physically collecting and shipping weapons to Syria but the CIA clearly knew who was. As Shoebat.com reported, this amounted to a distinction without a difference:

“…From the Annex in Benghazi, the CIA was collecting intelligence about foreign entities that were themselves collecting weapons in Libya and facilitating their passage to Syria. The Benghazi Annex was not itself collecting weapons.”

One thing that can be certain is that after the removal of Muammar Gadhafi in 2011, weapons in Libya were being rounded up and shipped to Syria’s rebels. These logistics constitute transitioning from the end of one operation – regime change in Libya – and the beginning of another – regime change in Syria.

….That year, the annual U.S.-Islamic World Forum (US-IWF) – an event co-sponsored by the nation of Qatar and the Brookings Institute – was held in the U.S. for the first time, from April 12-14. Prior to that, it had been held in Doha, Qatar. McCain attended the 2011 edition and was part of a panel. In this bizarre excerpt, McCain referred to the Arab Spring as a “seismic event” he was thrilled to be a part of and said he hoped it would spread to Russia and China.

Keep in mind the aforementioned paragraph from the Times article. Note that on April 22, 2011, hundreds of rifles were “sent from Benghazi to Misrata,” according to the report. Something else happened on that day. McCain was in Benghazi – with U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and told an Al-Jazeera reporter that the Libyan (Muslim Brotherhood) rebels were his “heroes” on the same day they were receiving weapons.

Little more than one year later and just 90 days before the Benghazi attacks, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) sent a letter to the Inspector’s General office of the State Department. In that letter, Bachmann raised legitimate concerns about the Muslim Brotherhood connections of very close Hillary Clinton adviser Huma Abedin. It was John McCain who further implicated himself in the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood by defending Abedin and denouncing Bachmann, as Shoebat.com has reported.

Islamic State hands out rules for sex slaves

The Islamic State has made clear its justification for the rape and enslavement of non-Muslim women and children with a color-printed pamphlet “Question and Answers on Female Slaves and their Freedom,” being distributed in Mosul.

Armed men handed out the pamphlet in the militant occupied Iraqi city on Friday after sunset prayers, several residents toldCNN on Saturday.

The document explains the terrorist group’s policy on having sexual intercourse with female slaves — even those who haven’t reached puberty — citing the Koran for justification.

“If she was a virgin, he (the owner) can have intercourse with her immediately after the ownership is fulfilled,” the pamphlet explains, CNN reported. “If she was not a virgin, her uterus must be purified (wait for her period to be sure she is not pregnant.)”

The guide lays out other rules as well. For example, two men who co-own a slave can’t both have sex with her and a man can’t have sex with his wife’s slave.

Regarding children: “It is permissible to have intercourse with the female slave who hasn’t reached puberty if she is fit for intercourse,” The Islamic State rules said. “However, if she is not fit for intercourse, he (the owner) can only enjoy her without intercourse.”

But the Q&A makes is clear that the captors have complete control of their captives.

“It is permissible to buy, sell or give as a gift female captives and slaves, for they are merely property,” the pamphlet reads.

Saudi Arabian Beheadings, Politics & Sharia Law

By Angus McDowall – Reuters –

RIYADH – Immediately after his sword falls, the Saudi Arabian executioner steps backwards to avoid soiling his clothes with the blood of the condemned man, whose headless body can be seen slumping over backwards in the shaky online film.

After perfunctorily checking the white folds of his robe for flecks of red, the executioner wipes his blade with a tissue, which he drops onto the corpse and walks away.

A sudden surge in public executions in Saudi Arabia in the last two months has coincided with a U.S.-led bombing campaign against Islamic State. This has led to inevitable comparisons in Western media between Islamic State’s beheadings and those practiced in Saudi Arabia.

Defenders of the Saudi death penalty say beheadings, usually with a single sword stroke, are at least as humane as lethal injections in the United States. They deplore any comparison between the kingdom’s execution of convicted criminals and Islamic State’s extra-judicial killing of innocent hostages.

But rights activists say they are more concerned by the justice system behind the death penalty in the kingdom than by its particular method of execution. And critics of the Al Saud ruling family say the latest wave of executions may have a political message….

In the most extreme version of the Saudi death penalty, known by the Arabic word for “crucifixion” and reserved for crimes that outrage Saudi society, the corpse is publicly hanged in a harness from a metal gibbet as a warning to others.

An online film dated April 2012 on the LiveLeaks website shows a man being executed and then “crucified” in this manner, reportedly for robbing a house and killing its occupants. A group of five men suffered this fate in May last year in the southern province of Jizan for a series of robberies.

The reformist Jeddah lawyer, Alim, said he supported capital punishment in Saudi Arabia but that the legal system needed to be strengthened to ensure verdicts were just.

“I’m not someone who shies away from it. It’s part of Sharia. But it has to be handled with extreme sensitivity and care. At the moment it can be done on the basis of no other evidence if the accused confesses,” he said.

Ten ISIS Terrorists Captured At Texas-Mexico Border

By Mac Slavo – SHTFPlan.com –

Representative Duncan Hunter (R-CA) recently claimed that a high-level Department of Homeland Security official informed him of the capture of at least ten Islamic State terrorists on the Texas-Mexico border. A DHS spokesperson speaking with the New Republic unequivocally denied the Congressman’s claims:

“The suggestion that individuals who have ties to ISIL have been apprehended at the Southwest border is categorically false, and not supported by any credible intelligence or the facts on the ground,” said DHS spokesperson Marsha Catron.

“DHS continues to have no credible intelligence to suggest terrorist organizations are actively plotting to cross the southwest border.”

But even the Islamic State has said they want to launch attacks directly on American soil and in recent weeks IS public relations arms on social media have urged followers to identify U.S. soldiers, track down their addresses and kill them and their families. Some reports of DHS chatter even suggest that America’s worst fears of a biological attack could be realized if IS militants infect themselves with Ebola or another deadly virus and deliver it to America in live hosts via the southern border.

And while Homeland Security has brushed off such threats and warnings as not credible, the border patrol agents being faced with thousands of undocumented immigrants attempting to cross into the United States daily have a completely different story to tell.

According to one agent who has chosen to remain anonymous for fear of reprisal, not only are they seeing scores of disease-ridden individuals being brought into the country, there is a real and present danger that members of terror organizations have already crossed into the United States.

Homeland Security and Obama Administration officials may categorically deny the claims, but this agent insists terrorist organizations are operating in Mexico and he says that he is aware of at least four Islamic State insurgents that have already been detained by the government:
