Poll: Race relations deteriorate on Obama’s watch

3/6/2015 – A day ahead of President Obama’s trip to Selma to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, a new poll shows that nearly half of Americans believe race relations have worsened over the course of his presidency.

Thirty-nine percent believe relations between blacks and whites have worsened since Mr. Obama took office, while 15 percent say race relations have improved and 45 percent say they have stayed the same, according to the CNN/ORC poll. Forty-five percent of whites and 26 percent of blacks think they have worsened.

The survey of 1,027 American adults was conducted Feb. 12-15 — before a Department of Justice report released this week found systemic racial discrimination in the Ferguson, Missouri, Police Department. The Justice Department also announced that it would not bring federal civil rights charges against white police officer Darren Wilson for the shooting death of black 18-year-old Michael Brown last summer in a case that ignited widespread protests and renewed debates over relations between law enforcement and the African-American community, as well as police militarization in the country.

Mr. Obama said in a new radio interview that while he doesn’t think the situation in Ferguson is typical, it’s not isolated, either.

“I don’t think that is typical of what happens across the country but it’s not an isolated incident,” he said in an interview on Sirius XM’s “Urban View” with Joe Madison.

“I think there are circumstances in which trust between communities and law enforcement have broken down, and individuals or entire departments may not have the training or the accountability to make sure that they are protecting and serving all people and not just some,” he said….

Fifty-one percent of people in the CNN/ORC poll said they believe the Voting Rights Act remains necessary to make sure that blacks are allowed to vote, while 47 percent say it’s no longer needed. More than three-quarters of blacks say it is necessary, compared to 48 percent of whites who say so.

Fifty percent think the nation’s criminal justice system favors whites over blacks and 42 percent believe it treats both equally. Again, those numbers were split along racial lines: 76 percent of African-Americans say the system favors whites, compared to 42 percent of whites who think so.

Racist Bloomberg: Young Black Men Should Not Own Guns

Anyone who has lived in New York City and seen the policies of former Mayor Michael Bloomberg can attest to the fact that the man is out of touch. Whether he is trying to tell people how much of a carbonated beverage they can drink, or promoting the racist “Stop and Frisk” policies of the New York City Police Department, Bloomberg consistently showed, during his tenure as mayor, that he lived in a world where only billionaires like himself mattered.

But now, during a lecture at the Aspen Institute on February 6th, the former mayor literally suggested banning African Americans and Latinos from owning guns… at least until they are much older than their Caucasian neighbors.

Michael Bloomberg is surrounded by private security guards who own and carry guns to protect him. They have been spotted illegally carrying weapons in Washington D.C. The mayor has refused to comment on why he is always surrounded by men with guns if he is so against gun ownership. But make no mistake, former mayor Bloomberg does not have a problem with guns, he has a problem with poor and so-called “minority” communities having the same access, at the same ages, to the firearms that affluent Caucasian communities do.

At first, Bloomberg suggested that young non-Caucasian males should be prevented from owning guns in general, as “an effort to reduce crime and to keep those minority males ‘alive,’” according to The Aspen Times.

Bloomberg even used the old mainstay of racists commenting on so-called minority communities, saying that having a gun is a joke to “these people.”

According to The Aspen Times, Bloomberg covered a number of topics, of which gun ownership was only one. They reported that as Bloomberg went on with his diatribe, he eased back, saying that minorities should only be banned from owning guns until their are 7 years older than their Caucasian neighbors….

Baker Investigated For Refusing To Serve Anti-Gay Client

As Western Journalism has previously reported, a bakery in Oregon was investigated by state authorities – and eventually forced to close – because its Christian owners opted to refuse an order for a lesbian couple’s wedding cake.

The scrutiny grew from a complaint filed by the prospective clients and grew into a national story evoking emotions from those on both sides of the issue. Similar accusations have subsequently been levied against Christian-owned businesses throughout the country.

Recent reports indicate that the same standard used against the Oregon bakery is now being implemented by a man who wanted a Colorado business to make a cake critical of homosexuality.

When Bill Jack, who founded the group Worldview, asked Azucar Bakery to fill an order for a Bible-shaped cake featuring two men holding hands and the phrase ‘God Hates Gays,’ the shop’s owner immediately refused….

Marjorie Silva said of the work order….‘No way. We’re not doing this. This is just very discriminatory and hateful.’”

According to Jack’s complaint, however, it was the bakery – not his cake design – that revealed true discrimination.

“I believe I was discriminated against by the baker based on my creed,” he said. “As a result, I filed a complaint with the Colorado Civil Rights division.”….

Many of those who stood up for the rights of Christian bakers to refuse a pro-gay order maintain their position that a business owner should not be forced to violate his or her personal convictions.

“This is a free speech issue,” explained Focus on the Family’s Jeff Johnston, “and we support freedom of speech.”

He went on to conclude that “this baker should not be required to create a cake with a message that goes against her conscience.”

DOJ to clear Ferguson Officer Wilson of charges

Justice Department lawyers will recommend that no civil rights charges be brought against the police officer who fatally shot an unarmed teenager in Ferguson, Mo., after an F.B.I. investigation found no evidence to support charges, law enforcement officials said Wednesday.

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and his civil rights chief, Vanita Gupta, will have the final say on whether the Justice Department will close the case against the officer, Darren Wilson. But it would be unusual for them to overrule the prosecutors on the case, who are still working on a legal memo explaining their recommendation.

But a broader Justice Department civil rights investigation into allegations of discriminatory traffic stops and excessive force by the Ferguson Police Department remains open. That investigation could lead to significant changes at the department, which is overwhelmingly white despite serving a city that is mostly black….

Mr. Wilson resigned from the department in November, citing threats of violence against him and other officers. “It is my hope that my resignation will allow the community to heal,” he said.

Mayor James Knowles III of Ferguson did not respond Wednesday afternoon to a voice mail message and email seeking comment about the broader federal investigation of his city’s police department. Jeff Small, a Ferguson spokesman, said city officials did not have any new information to share about either federal inquiry and would not comment on them….

School To Implement Racist Punishment Against White Kids

The contemptible Attorney General Eric Holder has injected his views on forced racial equality into the federal Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights.

Eric Holder believes that schools should have a race-based system of punishment for their students, and thinks that black students should receive smaller punishments than white students.

The Daily Caller is reporting that Minneapolis Public Schools has bought into this line of thinking as well, and will be implementing a new review policy for suspensions, for the purpose of eliminating a perceived racial gap. This comes after an investigation by the Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights into why more minority students are suspended than white students.

MPS Superintendent Bernadeia Johnson said, “I and all of my staff will start to review all non-violent suspensions of students of color, especially black boys, to understand why they’re being suspended so we can help intervene with teachers, student leaders and help give them the targeted support they need for these students.”

Johnson’s office also put out a press release about their new policy, which begins this coming Monday. The press release reads, in part….
