District Council 37 Local 371 rallied at the doorstep of Brooklyn District Attorney Charles J. Hynes’s headquarters April 6 to protest his charging two former Administration for Children’s Services workers with criminally negligent homicide in the murder of Marchella Brett-Pierce, a 4-year-old who was found malnourished and allegedly beaten to death by her mother.

“Caseloads are high! Stop the lies!” cried the crowd of hundreds that marched in circles outside 350 Jay St. The union has pushed back against the charges, lodged against Marchella’s Caseworker, Damon Adams, and his supervisor, Chereece Bell, saying that budget cuts and high caseloads, along with Marchella’s mother’s actions, are to blame for the death.
